Ethylene-Butyl Acrylate (EBA) copolymers are produced by reacting ethylene with butyl acrylate. These copolymers combine high load acceptance, excellent toughness, thermal stability, flexibility and adhesion over a range of temperatures. Properties & Characteristics Soluble Soluble in most organic solvents, EBA is slightly soluble in water and slightly less dense than water. As such, it creates a surface lubricity on water. Spontaneously flammable EAB is known to ignite spontaneously when exposed to air, making it particularly dangerous to handle without adequate precautions. This property is due to the presence of acetylene groups, which are highly reactive and can oxidise rapidly in the presence of oxygen. Applications Construction It is used in the manufacture of pipes and tubes, in wire and cable compounds and in hot-melt adhesive formulations. In addition, they can be used to manufacture tough, flexible injection-moulded and extruded articles. Film Packaging, adhesive, industrial, agricultural and textile films.
